Postcard from Moscow

11 01 2010

Ever since I joined Postcrossing I’ve really really wanted a postcard from Russia and last week my dreams came true. It shows Lenin’s mausoleum in Red Square and the sender – who wrote in French – says he has only seen it in person once but his mother was made to visit it many times a year. The reminder of the realities of terrible Soviet rule really made me pause for thought.

Amazing stamps as well – and lovely handwriting! I’ve noticed that most Eastern Europeans have beautiful handwriting.
